The association aims to encourage and provide the finest calibre of music education possible and to promote high standards of music in the community. Teachers are encouraged to keep abreast of new materials and progressive ideas on the teaching of music.

The aim of ORMTA is to encourage and provide the highest calibre of music education possible and to promote high standards of music in each community.
To become a Registered Music Teacher (RMT), one must hold a degree or diploma from a recognized university or conservatory, or meet the necessary qualifications set down by the registering province, thus ensuring a high level of training and a commitment to professionalism.
End of Year Address from your President
A sincere thank you to all members of Barrie Branch ORMTA for another successful year. Thanks to those members who helped in any way. It was great to see you at meetings and appreciate your input! We have had productive meetings this year, with new ideas brought forth, worthwhile pedagogy discussions. Some new organizational policies and ideas were put forth for both current and future executives. I would encourage any of you that can, to come out even if it's occasionally. We would love to have you. Of course, all members/membership categories are welcome!
Many members have helped with RCM exams sitting at the desk, and your time is appreciated. This is the biggest fundraiser for our branch, so even if Monday mornings don't work to get to meetings, please continue to help with exams, or consider giving a morning or afternoon next time. We need help at the August, January and June exam sessions. Please contact Sandy Dalton.
Hope you all will have some time for relaxation this summer, and a time to renew and refresh for another busy year. Please contact me if you have any suggestions, requests, or concerns for our Barrie Branch ORMTA.
